Pride Month 2024

As Republicans continue their quest to eviscerate LGBTQ+ rights, nearly half of LGBTQ+ Americans report feeling unsafe in their own country. The Human Rights Campaign has declared a “state of emergency” for the LGBTQ+ community in America and the United Nations has expressed concern “at the increase in the number of state laws that severely restrict the rights of persons on the basis of their sexual orientation or gender identity.”

We have got to fight back – that’s my motive in the Senate. Here’s what’s on my to-do list to defend and advance LGBTQ+ rights in the Senate:

Vote to finally pass the Equality Act, which would ensure that civil rights laws — like protections against discrimination in employment and housing — apply to sexual orientation and gender identity.
Support efforts to end the hateful practice of so-called “conversion therapy”
Fight to strengthen anti-harassment policies on school and college campuses.
